Kid-Made Star Wars Party Decorations for a Star Wars Birthday Party

DIY Star Wars Birthday party decorations and printables

Happy May the Fourth! I was looking through some old photos from Elise’s Star Wars 6th birthday party (Episode VI: Return of the Birthday) and I thought it would be fun to share the decorations that my 6-year-old daughter made herself.

I think it’s important for kids to contribute to their own party decorations especially in this age of pinterest perfect parties, so I always have the kids make some of their own birthday party decorations. Elise decorated the shelf above the food buffet using her vintage Star Wars characters and Star Wars LEGO Mini-figures. I added the free printable Star Wars happy birthday party bunting in lightsaber colors and the easy DIY crepe paper wall in lightsaber colors.

She divided the shelf into episodes and then re-created a scene from each movie. Then she labeled the movies with bright colored paper and washi tape.

Elise’s movie scenes added such a fun vibe to her party that the parents especially laughed and chatted about, and I could tell that she was proud of her work.

She also drew these pictures of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and a Stormtrooper.

Her cute drawing looked fantastic next to the Han Solo Frozen in Carbonite that we printed out and put onto our stainless steel fridge.

She also made the Star Wars favor bags. I gave her the Star Wars characters circles (use these free printable Star Wars favor bag labels / free printable Star Wars cupcake toppers) and she glued them on and added names.
