Thanks for visiting Merriment Design. This privacy policy explains the information this website collects when you visit, or when you use our third-party services such as our online Etsy shop or subscribe to our email newsletters that we send using Mailchimp. It also explains the specific ways we use and disclose that information. We take your privacy seriously, and we never sell customer lists nor email addresses.

What information do we collect and how is it used?

Information you voluntarily provide to us: When you use the Merriment Design website, post a comment, send us an email, or communicate with us in any way, you are voluntarily giving us information that we collect. That information may include information such as your name, email address, or IP address, and you may voluntarily provide details about yourself including gender, age, location, or other personal information. By giving us this information, you consent to this information being collected, used, disclosed, transferred to the United States and stored by us, as described by this Privacy Policy.

Information we collect from others: We may receive information about you from other sources.  You may link your Facebook, Instagram, and/or Google accounts or other social media accounts to your user profile. If you choose to link your Facebook, Instagram, and/or Google accounts or other social media accounts to your user profile, we will receive your name, email address and profile picture associated with that account.

When you place an order at our Etsy store, you may provide personal information such as your full name, physical address, and phone number, and other personal details needed to complete your order. Please see Etsy’s privacy policy for more information.

When you sign up for Merriment Design newsletters, you may provide personal information such as your name, email address, and IP address. Please see Mailchimp’s privacy policy for more information.

Automatically-collected information: We automatically collect certain information about you and the device with which you access the Merriment Design website and this information is stored at Google and we access it using Google Analytics. For example, when you use the Website, we may log your IP address, operating system type, browser type, referring website, visiting country, pages you viewed, and the dates/times when you accessed the Website. We may also collect information about actions you take when using the Website, such as links clicked or documents downloaded.

Cookies and tracking: We may log information using cookies, which are small data files stored on your browser by the Website. We may use both session cookies, which expire when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your browser until deleted, to provide you with a more personalized experience on the Website. User and event data retention associated with Google Analytics tracking is currently set to 50 months, which means that data is automatically deleted after 50 months.

How your information may be used

We may use the information collected in the following ways:

  • To deliver any purchases you make at our Etsy store and communicate with you about these purchases;

Third-party use of personal information

We may share your information with third parties when you explicitly authorize us to share your information. Additionally, the Website may use third-party service providers to service various aspects of the Website. Etsy – this service provides our online shop where you can choose to purchase items from us. Please see Etsy’s privacy policy for more information

Google Analytics – this service tracks website usage and provides information such as referring websites and user actions on the Website. Please see Google’s privacy policy for more information.

Mailchimp – this service is used to deliver optional email newsletters. If you voluntarily subscribe to newsletters, then we store your name and email address for purposes of delivering such communications.  Please refer to Mailchimp’s privacy policy for further information.

Mediavine – this service is used to deliver advertising. When you visit a website such as Merriment Design that is using Mediavine to provide its advertising, you will be greeted with a pop-up that will state the types of data that Mediavine and its third parties are collecting, such as measurement and personalization of ads, and which third parties are collecting it. You will be able to opt-in and out of Mediavine’s individual vendors and data collection. Please see Mediavine for more information about their GDPR compliance.

Rafflecopter – this service is used to enter giveaways. Merriment Design periodically offers giveaways for you to enter, and you will be asked to voluntarily share personal information such as your name, email, and social media handles. If you win a giveaway, we may need your mailing address or email address to send the prize to you. Please see Rafflecopter’s privacy policy for more information.

At this time, your personal information is not shared with any other third-party applications. This list may be amended from time to time in the Website’s sole discretion. It is your responsibility to review this privacy policy on an ongoing basis to review any changes.

Except when required by law, we will not sell, distribute, or reveal your email addresses or other personal information without your consent; however, we may disclose or transfer personal information collected through the Website to third parties who acquire all or a portion of our business, which may be the result of a merger, consolidation, or purchase of all or a portion of our assets, or in connection with any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding brought by or against us.

Anonymous data

From time to time, we may use anonymous data, which does not identify you alone, or when combined with data from other parties. This type of anonymous data may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses. Examples of this anonymous data may include analytics or information collected from cookies.

If you voluntarily leave a comment on this website, certain information may be publicly visible. Your email address will never be available publicly.  At your option, you may also add an avatar, a profile description, and a link to your website, or other personal information.

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. Affiliate Program Participation

Merriment Design participates in affiliate marketing, which is done by embedding tracking links into the Website. If you click on a link for an affiliate partnership, a cookie will be placed on your browser to track any sales for purposes of commissions. When you voluntarily click my affiliate links, I may get a small commission at no cost to you.

Rights related to your personal information

Opt-out – You may opt-out of future email communications by following the unsubscribe links in our emails. You may also notify us at kathy@merrimentdesign.com to be removed from our mailing list.
Access – You may access the personal information we have about you by submitting a request to kathy@merrimentdesign.com.
Amend – You may contact us at kathy@merrimentdesign.com to amend or update your personal information.

Forget – In certain situations, you may request that we erase or forget your personal data. To do so, please submit a request from our Contact page.

Sensitive Personal Information

Do not submit any sensitive personal information to this Website such as social security number, information regarding race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information, criminal background, trade union memberships or any other sensitive personal information. Children’s Information

By using this website, you consent that you are over the age of 16. We don’t knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 16 unless parents send us their child’s name or age to personalize a printable for them. Parents or guardians: Please contact us immediately if you believe that the Website has personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 16 in its database, and we’ll remove their information from our records by deleting names/emails/comments, deleting email newsletter signups, or other available actions.
