One tip I do have, is once you have put your initial tape through the machine and it presses both sides, fold it in half and put it back through the machine. This will then press it like an iron would but so much quicker. It is then ready to use. I'm currently making aprons and have saved a fortune making my own bias tape.
I'm not sure how you are all cutting it out, but here is a fabric saver. Use a rotary blade, and cut horizontal strips 2" wide, straight across the fabric. Then sew these together. It makes gorgeous bias tape and saves a lot of time not cutting your fabric on the diagonal. I honestly didn't think it would work, but my friend is a quilter and learned this technique at a quilting class.
Scroll down the reviews to Stunningly accurate and useful!, December 22, 2012 By QueenOPearls "QueenOPearls" (Lakewood, OH) She has an amazing video which also uses the Simplicity Winder...which is my next purchase. Have fun:)
The description says:Easy as 1-2-3. 1. Cut bias strips and wind on spindle.
2. Easy-to-use feed-though tip
3. Make perfect bias tape every time-no more
burned fingers!
Their are actually 10 steps instead of 3.
Wind on the spindle: Sounds easy enough, right? You hand wind the fabric on the spindle while trying to keeping the fabric from turning and keeping it going straight on the spindle at the same time.
You will then put the fabric over the guide bar and place the guides on each side of the fabric.
That easy to feed-though tip isn't so easy. Yes, it does feed though well After you use a long straight pin, tweezers or a Little Foot That purple Thang or something else, to feed the fabric into the tip and then work with it until you get the fabric to come out the end of the tip without the fabric twisting or folding. Once all that is done, then yes, the tip feeds really well. Unless you have several continuous yards of cut fabric, then imagine having to do this with 20 strips of fabric. You will then lock the tip on the machine.
Next you will need to remove the heat plate cover and set it aside. You will then pull the bias tape until it is in front of the roller and then replace the heat plate cover.
Plug up the machine, select the setting, turn on the machine and wait for the iron to heat up. Once the green light is on the iron is ready. Press the run button to start the machine.
Now, that perfect bias tape which ready to use right off the machine is anything but prefect. You will need to pull out that ironing board and iron out and start ironing, because the fabric comes out with barely folded fold on each side of the fabric. It does not fold the middle fold at all. With bias tape it actually has three folds. Each side of the fabric has a nice crisp fold and then the middle is folded. This machine does not do the middle fold. It does not do nice crisp folds at all. I was so very disappointed with this machine.
In the video I am using the Simplicity 3/4-Inch Single Fold Bias Tape Machine Tip . All the packaging materials say to use twice the width of your desired finished size, so my tape is 1 1/2 inches wide.
As I wrote, I starched the bias tape heavily both before I cut it and then after stitching the lengths together. The machine had no problem ironing the joints.
This is going to be such a benefit for me. I made about 15 feet of bias tape in less than three minutes. Yes, you read that correctly.
I hope you find this review useful. A heartfelt thanks go out to all the comprehensive reviewers who helped me make my decision to purchase this machine.
I adore both machines!

Estuve seriamente pensando en regresar la máquina pero mejor la uso hasta que queme el motor. Con Amazon es la mejor oferta que encontré para la máquina.
