Garfield Park Conservatory by Kathy Beymer

When it’s February in Chicago and 17 degrees, warm humidity seems 120 long days away. Little did I know it’s plentiful and free right now …and only a short 10 minute drive from my house.

Today my friend Liz took me to Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, IL. Constructed in 1905, this indoor world is alive and calm and beyond inspirational on a sunny, icy day. It’s really very quiet on Friday afternoons, perfect to wander, think and relax. And what a beautiful wedding location this would be.

Here are some photos and videos that I took of the ferns, palms, succulents, azaleas and koi that entertained me today. Hopefully they’ll inspire you to create some beauty of your own.

I can’t get enough of the conservatory. It is a such a great refuge from the unending winter that is gripping our fair city. Go here and breathe the air.
